CAPIA Calls Out to All Licensed Public Adjusters for November 9, 2015 Meeting at Maggiano’s Little Italy in Orange County, South Coast Plaza

On November 9, 2015 at 11am, CAPIA renews its fight against Senate Bill 488 after the bill turned into a two year bill earlier this year. CAPIA will hold an informative membership general meeting to discuss the bill and reach out to all public adjusters to invite and encourage input into the needs of the consumer from 11am to 2pm at Maggiano’s Little Italy, located at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St, Costa Mesa, California 92626.

Senator Ed Hernandez, a member of California Senate Standing Insurance Committee has confirmed his attendance at the CAPIA meeting to discuss outstanding issue that impact public adjusters and consumers from the bill. The attendance by all public adjusters is important to the profession and the consumers we all represent.

In California, public adjusters everywhere are gearing up to work with the California Department of Insurance to significantly change the consumer unfriendly proposed Senate Bill 488. Insurance consumers may find themselves with less public adjusters to represent them and deeper into insurance claims before they realize their property insurance claim is not always properly adjusted if Senate Bill 488 is not changed or stopped in its tracks.

In recent weeks, the California Department of Insurance has been interviewed by the major networks, and the news aired after the Butte and Valley Fires has been less than flattering to public adjusters everywhere, inferring that public adjusters are "scam artists". Through the great efforts of a few public adjusters a retraction has come from the local Northern California NBC affiliate.

However, there’s still a long road to go as CAPIA demands a retraction from local Southern California NBC affiliates and continues to fight the negative press and flyers that have popped up after the fire as handouts to consumers relayed through their insurers.
