What does it mean to be a Policyholder’s Advocate™? At Merlin Law Group, it means not only direct representation of policyholders whose claims have been delayed, denied, or underpaid, but also assistance through education, training, and community sharing that indirectly benefits policyholders. To accomplish the latter, Merlin Law Group is proud to sponsor events that indirectly assist policyholders by improving the insurance restoration industry. In other words, help those who help policyholders. To this end, Merlin Law Group is proud to continue our sponsorship of April Hall’s Storm Restoration Contractor Summit (“SRC Summit”) in 2022. As The Policyholder’s Advocate™, we support general contractors and the work they do for policyholders recovering from a storm or catastrophe.
This is my fourth SRC Summit to attend, and I am honored to be moderating the Attorney / Public Adjuster Panel discussion scheduled to occur on January 23rd at 2:15 pm. Having participated on the panel in years past, I look forward to engaging with some of the most respected professionals and colleagues, including Jack Hanks, T.J. Ware, Phillip Sanov, Jason Pruitt, Galen Hair, and Austin Tanner. Rest assured, everyone on the panel will be prepared to address questions, discuss current trends and developments, and impart valuable insight and experience to all SRC Summit attendees. As a teaser, how many of you have started seeing insurance companies adopting a Preferred Contractor Endorsement allowing an insurance company to invoke its “right to repair” covered damages utilizing its own preferred contractor? In recent blog posts1 by Merlin attorneys, we discuss this new trend seen in Florida, and if you think this is limited to Florida, you are gravely mistaken. The Attorney/Public Adjuster panel will plan to discuss this issue, among others, and its impact on the storm restoration industry.
In addition to this panel, the SRC Summit agenda is packed full of valuable and informative content and speakers like Michael Flynn, U.S. Lieutenant General (retired), David Carlson, Co-Founder of Eagleview and Met-Loop, Eleanor Kitzman, Former Texas Dept. of Insurance Commissioner & Resolute Underwriters, LLC, and Kirt Linington of Linear Roofing & General Contractors, this year’s keynote speaker. With more than 30 experts scheduled to speak, SRC Summit attendees can expect to receive valuable information they can put to immediate use.
So, if you have not already registered, you can do so by clicking here. If you do attend, please be sure to visit our Merlin Law Group sponsored booth to say hello. We will have attorneys present to answer questions and discuss issues you may be experiencing. Hope to see many of you at the 2022 SRC Summit on January 21-23 at the Toyota Music Factory Pavilion in Irving, Texas.
