The 2012 session of the Florida Legislature will occur January 10, 2012, through March 7, 2012. Usually, the legislative session takes place from March to May, but since the Legislature is redistricting this year, the schedule has been moved up.
The Legislature will revise how the state and federal districts are drawn, which will in turn affect who runs for which seat. Other than redistricting, the major issues that will likely come up this session are PIP, budgetary concerns and gaming. For once, it appears that property insurance is not front and center. For proof of that, check out Governor Rick Scott’s legislative agenda. In addition, no major property insurance bills have been filed.
You can never be sure what will happen in Tallahassee when the Legislature is in session, but it appears that they are not interested in a major property insurance bill. As always, we will keep you updated on this blog and at Policyholders of Florida.
