As I posted in Proof of Loss Issues in New Jersey, National Flood Insurance Program claims will be forever lost if you do not file a proper proof of loss. Pursuant to a FEMA directive, the normal 60 day period was extended to one year from the date of loss on Hurricane Sandy Claims. That means for Hurricane Sandy claims, there are only 4 months left to get the proof of loss to the insurance carrier. It is not sufficient to simply send the proof of loss to the adjuster that was handling your claim.
